I went from full time photography to full time teaching photography about 2 years ago and I absolutely love it! I have found myself educating people how to look at images and how to make images. The struggle is trying to remember a time that I had no idea how my camera worked and why I got the results I did when I took pictures. All the choices you gotta make when you start out making pictures with no clue where to start. Understanding how things happen is pretty dang important if you want to get the creative images out of your mind and out in the world.
This new adventure in my life is super challenging and has given me a different point of view when I think about my photography. I find myself thinking about new ways to see light and how I choose to record that light. Carefully considering when to make a photograph and when to just be in the moment. I truly believe this is the first time in 20 years I have thought about what I want say with no outside influences when I pick up my camera. No one dictating time, place, or subject. I Think I might just start posting about how I see the world and what I find interesting.
