Iridescence Exhibition at the Louisiana Art and Science Museum

After spending months spreading Morpho butterflies I finally get to see Wavelengths Between Us at full scale. If you are unable to visit the Museum a 360 Virtual Tour of the Iridescence Exhibition is the next best thing. Images from the Opening Reception and 360 virtual tour curtesy of LASM

Ella helped with the installation of 100 preserved pinned Morpho butterfly specimen.

Observing the piece from different places in the Museum the viewer can experience the natural color shift of iridescence. These vibrant blue butterflies aren’t a color at all, we only perceptive the insects to be blue because of the structural properties. The brilliant blue shifts to a pinkish purple as the angle of light or position of the viewer changes.
